Kharkiv Regional Council supports recognizing Russia as aggressor state
Kharkiv regional council at an extraordinary session on Thursday supported the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that recognizes Russia as the aggressor state.
All in all, 99 council members voted in favor, with three against, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported. Activists present at the sitting, several officials and council members applauded this decision.
The decision was taken without reports and discussion. Member of the Council Volodymyr Alekseyev (Opposition Bloc) tried to address the sitting but the majority of those present insisted on going to a vote without speeches.
As reported, on March 5 during a council session, the question of supporting the Rada's decision to recognize Russia as the aggressor state was not brought up for discussion. Out of those present, 63 voted to discuss the resolution, however the required minimum was 69.
