Poroshenko rules out destabilization of Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has ruled out the possibility of destabilization of the situation in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
"There is no destabilization. I have no doubts. As to Kolomoisky [ex-governor of Dnipropetrovsk region], I have no doubts about his patriotism" he told the press in Kharkiv on Thursday.
Poroshenko said he is confident that all residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region "will work for consolidation so that Dnipropetrovsk can continue and strengthen its function as the main fortress in the east."
"I don't see any grounds for that [destabilization]. Those who will try to take advantage of this situation [change of governors] will be resolutely rebuffed," the president said.
In the early hours of Wednesday, Poroshenko granted Ihor Kolomoisky's resignation from the post of head of the Dnipropetrovsk region's administration.
