Kyiv asks Bucharest to back sending peacekeepers to Donbas
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis have discussed the initiative to deploy peacekeepers in Donbas.
"I have asked the Romanian side to back Ukraine's appeal to the UN Security Council and the EU Council about the deployment of peacekeepers to provide security on the contact line and on the uncontrolled sections of the state border. In our opinion, which is shared by our partners, it will ensure better stabilization and can help us avoid many casualties," Poroshenko said at a press conference after talks with Iohannis in Kyiv on Tuesday.
