United States Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew will visit Ukraine immediately after attending the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland next week.
"The Secretary Lew will travel to other countries in Europe, including Ukraine where he will meet with senior government officials and discuss the additional U.S. assistance announced this week," press center of the U.S. Department of Treasury reported on its website.
As reported, on January 13, the U.S. Treasury Department released a statement which said that the United States intends to provide a $1 billion loan guarantee to the Ukrainian government in the first half of 2015, provided Ukraine remains on-track with its reform program, and that this has been agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). These reforms include measures to combat corruption, repair the financial system and strengthen the business environment.
Under various estimates, Kyiv longs for $15-$20 billion of international financial assistance in 2015.
