Ukraine's CEC revokes registration of 58 candidates ahead of Rada polls
The Ukrainian Central Election Commission has registered another two candidates in the country's October 26 parliamentary elections who will run in districts using a first-past-the-post system and has revoked the registration of 58 candidates, the CEC press service said.
At its session on Monday, the commission registered two self-nominated candidates in accordance with resolutions issued by the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine and Kyiv's Administrative Court of Appeals.
The registration deadline for the Verkhovna Rada elections expired on October 30. The CEC registered some 3,500 candidates in districts using a first-past-the-post system. Another 600 people were denied registration. Of them, around 300 appealed the commission's decisions.
The CEC revoked the registration of 29 self-nominated candidates who voluntarily pulled out of the race, as well as the registration of another 29 candidates at the request of the parties that nominated them.
