New Prosecutor General to battle political corruption
Newly-appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vitaliy Yarema has said he is to battle political corruption in Ukraine, including in the Verkhovna Rada, the country's parliament.
"As soon as possible, we need to make law enforcement agencies act according to law, especially with issues connected to corruption; and in terms of the prosecutor general's office – issues of political corruption. You know what's happening in parliament, what kind of activities are going on – bribery. Thus, we will work and time will tell if we manage to do so or not," he said at a press conference on Thursday after being presented by president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
