Poroshenko nominates First Vice-Premier Yarema for prosecutor general
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has proposed that the Verkhovna Rada agree to the appointment of First Deputy Prime Minister Vitaliy Yarema as Ukraine's prosecutor general.
A respective draft resolution was registered on the parliament's Web site on Wednesday.
Yarema was appointed first deputy prime minister in charge of Ukraine's law enforcement unit on February 27. In 1999, he was appointed first deputy chief of the criminal investigation department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, and from 2005 to 2010, he headed the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main office in Kyiv.
In 2006, he was elected a Kyiv City Council deputy on the lists of the Our Ukraine Party, and in the parliamentary elections in 2012 he was elected an MP at constituency No. 212 (Darnytsky district, Kyiv) from the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union.
