Militants have attacked an airfield in the city of Luhansk, eastern Ukraine, Vladyslav Selezniov, spokesman for the Ukrainian Armed Forces' anti-terrorist operation in the southeast of the country, has said.
"Militants opened fire on an airfield in Luhansk. Having arrived in eight trucks equipped with mortars and large-caliber submachine guns, the militants started to shoot at the positions of Ukrainian servicemen," Selezniov said on his Facebook account on Tuesday morning.
The Ukrainian soldiers repelled the attack. None of them was killed or injured, he said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces recently beefed up security around Luhansk International Airport. Militants opened fire on the airport compound on June 9 as well.
