Signatories to Budapest Memorandum to continue consultations on Ukraine - UK foreign secretary
The signatories to the Budapest Memorandum who have the status of guarantors of Ukraine's security, will continue consultations later this week, said British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
Hague said at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday that the consultations will be continued between the guarantor countries' foreign policy chiefs in Paris on Wednesday.
Hague urged Russia not to forget that Moscow signed the Budapest Memorandum, and, by doing, so provided guarantees to Ukraine's territorial integrity and pledges not to use military force against it.
The Memorandum on Security Assurances in connection with Ukraine's accession to the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons was signed by Ukraine, Russia, the United States and Britain in Budapest in December 1993.
