Ukraine opposition leaders meet with Catherine Ashton - UDAR

Ukraine's UDAR party leader Vitali Klitschko, Batkivschyna leader Arseniy Yatseniuk and Svoboda chairman Oleh Tiahnybok met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Baroness Catherine Ashton, on Monday.

The opposition leaders informed Ashton of the current political situation in Ukraine, the UDAR press service said.

The sides also discussed ways to maintain the country's unity and the need to take urgent measures to resolve the economic crisis despite the complicated financial and economic situation in the country.

Ashton, for her part, assured Ukraine's opposition leaders that the European Union was prepared to grant extensive assistance to Ukraine after a new government was formed in the country, which, she said, should be done as soon as possible.
