Talk of Ukraine's federalization dangerous trend - Miroshnychenko
The talk of Ukraine's federalization is a dangerous trend, Ukrainian Presidential Representative to Verkhovna Rada Yuriy Miroshnychenko said.
"This is a dangerous trend, and we are not going there," Miroshnychenko said on Channel 5 on Tuesday night, commenting on the Crimean Parliament Presidium's appeal to the Russian Federation regarding Crimean autonomy.
Ukraine is a unitary state and, as historical experience has shown, that is precisely its strength, the people's deputy said.
"I don't think we are facing the danger of any separatist action, and even proposals regarding federalization today sound like proposals to hold a referendum on the matter or to study this issue. I don't think it's the right way. I am convinced we must preserve the single powerful state that is Ukraine," Miroshnychenko said.
