Azarov says he is ready for dialogue

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has called for a halt of the escalation of political tension in the country.

"I am now calling on all political forces to stop the escalation of political tension," he said, opening a government session on Wednesday.

Azarov said he is ready for dialogue and promised that all peaceful forms of protest, even those that are aimed at picketing public administration bodies, will be protected by the authorities.

The prime minister also said all people responsible for illegal actions will be punished in accordance with the law.
