Yanukovych to visit Donetsk and Kharkiv ahead of Independence Day
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will make two working visits to the country's regions ahead of events marking the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence, the presidential press service has reported, citing Head of Ukraine's Presidential Administration Serhiy Liovochkin.
On August 22, Yanukovych will visit Donetsk to attend festivities marking Miner's Day.
Liovochkin also said that on August 23, the president would attend a ceremony for raising the national flag in Kyiv. On the same day, he will make a working visit to Kharkiv to attend events marking the 70th anniversary of the city's liberation from German occupation.
On August 24, on the day of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence, Yanukovych will traditionally lay flowers at the monuments to Taras Shevchenko and Mykhailo Hrushevsky in Kyiv and will participate in the Independence Day celebrations on St. Volodymyr's Hill.
