Over 1,100 residential buildings without heating in Kyiv after night attack – mayor

More than 1,100 residential buildings in the Darnytsky and Dniprovsky districts of Kyiv remain without heat after a massive enemy attack on critical infrastructure on Tuesday night.

"The infrastructure facility that provides heat to these houses was severely damaged last night. Experts are assessing the extent of its damage and the prospects for restoration," Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said on Telegram.

According to him, the water in the heating systems of all these houses was drained in the morning to avoid defrosting.

The mayor announced the deployment of additional heating support points in schools in neighborhoods whose houses were left without heating. "Additional points that are connected to mobile boiler houses and where you can stay both day and night, in particular, there are currently five in Darnytsia district, four in Dnipro district. The State Emergency Service is also deploying 36 heating points in Darnytsia (at 20 locations), and 27 points in Dnipro district (also at 20 locations)," Klitschko said.

As reported, on Tuesday, February 3, Russia attacked the residential and energy infrastructure of Kyiv and a number of regions with drones and missiles at night. The most difficult situation is in Darnytsia and Dnipro districts in the left-bank part of the capital.
