Ashton not planning to visit Ukraine soon, says office
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton is not planning to visit Ukraine next week, the high representative's office told an Interfax-Ukraine reporter in Brussels on Monday.
"No visit to Ukraine is planned," the office said.
A source in the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry of Moldova reported earlier on Monday that Ashton would visit Chisinau and Kyiv with a working visit next week.
According to the source, a one-day working visit to Chisinau was to be held on July 9. It is expected that Ashton will fly to Chisinau in the afternoon and leave for Kyiv in the evening, the source said.
The source also said that during her visit to the capitals of Moldova and Ukraine, Ashton would focus on Eastern Partnership and the prospect of European integration of the two countries.
