ECHR ruling does not give grounds to release Tymoshenko - Party of Regions
The resolution issued by the European Court of Human Rights on Tuesday does not order the Ukrainian authorities to release former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison, Mykola Chechetov, first deputy chairman of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction, told Interfax on Tuesday.
"It does not offer any serious judicial grounds to release her [Tymoshenko]," he said.
The ECHR resolution is just an assessment given by a court, while Tymoshenko is serving her prison sentence in accordance with Ukrainian laws, Chechetov said.
