CPU wants to chair parliament, 2-3 parliamentary committees, says MP Holub
The Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU) wants its members to chair the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, of the seventh convocation and two or three parliamentary committees, CPU member Oleksandr Holub has said.
"I am not a member of the negotiating group, the working group, but as far as I understand we will claim to chair the parliament and two or three committees," he said in the Freedom of Speech Program on the ICTV Channel.
The parliamentary elections in Ukraine were held on October 28, 2012. The newly elected Verkhovna Rada will hold its first sitting on December 12.
A total of 445 people's deputies, including 185 from the Regions Party, 101 from the Batkivschyna United Opposition, 40 from the UDAR Party, 37 from the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union, 32 from the CPU, three from the Yedyny Tsentr Party, two from the People's Party, one from the Soyuz Party, one from the Radical Party, and 43 independent candidates, were elected to the new parliament according to party lists and in single-seat constituencies.
