Ukraine receives first LNG batch from USA
Ukraine has received the first batch of 100 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States via Greece, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has said Saturday.
"This is not just a cargo – it is a strategic step. Despite Russia's attempts to destroy our energy system during the war, we have won another victory on the energy front," he said on the Telegram channel.
Yermak noted that this gas was received by DTEK at the Greek LNG terminal "showing a high level of international cooperation."
The agreement with the American company Venture Global is valid until 2026, which will provide "stability and confidence in the future for millions of Ukrainians."
"Ukraine is successfully integrating into the global energy market. We are grateful to our international partners for their support and trust. Together we free the world energy system from Russian blackmail," Yermak said.
As reported, the energy holding DTEK received the first shipment of LNG from the United States after the ship with it docked in Greece. The shipment of about 100 million cubic meters of gas or 1 Terawatt hours (TWh) of energy on board the Gaslog Savannah arrived at the Revitus LNG terminal on Friday morning. D.Trading, DTEK's European trading subsidiary, bought the entire cargo.
