Sybiha calls for impartial investigation into AZAL plane crash to hold guilty accountable, prevent Russia from lying
Ukraine is calling for a fair and impartial investigation into the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said.
"The crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane is terrible. We express our condolences to Azerbaijan. It is significant that Russian media immediately began to lie about the causes of the crash, as well as the fact that Russia forced the damaged plane to fly across the sea," the minister said, quoted by the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
According to him, "most likely, this was an attempt to cover up the trail, to destroy evidence of their crime. The more photos and videos from the plane's cabin and after its crash appear, the more they point to damage from the Russian anti-aircraft system."
"We call for a fair and impartial investigation to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. We will not allow Russia to lie, avoid responsibility or shift blame," the Foreign Minister noted.
