Lithuania announces new significant military aid package for Ukraine

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine will send a new package of assistance to the Ukrainian military in August, including combat equipment, anti-drone systems, transportation and logistical resources.

"Lithuania continues to provide essential military aid to Ukraine: the Lithuanian Defense Ministry is preparing another significant support package. In August, we will deliver combat equipment, anti-drone systems, transportation and logistical resources, also, some really necessary weaponry," the ministry said on X Social Network on Friday.

According to a statement on the website of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry, the new package will also include short-range air defense systems and some older types of weapons.

"In the near future, Lithuania will transfer to Ukraine the much-needed short-range air defense systems, thereby contributing to the coalition of air defense forces and assets led by Germany, the United States and France, in which Lithuania is participating. We will also transfer other military equipment, weapons and systems that are needed on the battlefield every day. Our support is an investment in our own security," National Defense Minister of Lithuania Laurynas Kaščiūnas said.

The ministry said that in August, Ukraine will receive a total of 14 M113 armored personnel carriers, short-range air defense systems with missiles, anti-drone defense systems, individual drone suppression systems, all-terrain vehicles with spare parts, cargo trailers, 20-tonne telescopic loaders, wheel loaders, rifles, ammunition, smoke bombs, attachments and weapon spare parts.

It also noted that, at Ukraine's request, Lithuania has already transferred 155mm ammunition, M577 armored personnel carriers, M113 armored personnel carriers, anti-drone defense systems, ammunition for the Carl Gustaf anti-tank grenade launcher, ammunition for the RISE-1 remote detonation system, electric generators, a partially disassembled L-39ZA Albatros light attack aircraft, as well as other support.
