Ukrainian air defense thwarts seven out of eight attack drones at night – AFU Air Force
The air defense forces shot down seven out of eight Russian drones that attacked Ukraine at night, said commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk on Tuesday morning.
"On the night of July 23, 2024, the enemy struck with an X-69 guided air missile from the airspace of Kursk region - the Russian Federation and eight Shahed-type attack UAVs also from Kursk direction. Sumy region has been attacked," he informed on the Telegram channel.
It is emphasized that "seven enemy attack UAVs Shahed - 131/136 were shot down by air defense. Due to active counteraction, the enemy guided aviation missile X-69 did not reach its target."
Units of mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and units of electronic warfare of the Air Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.
