Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has urged the Kyiv authorities to raise the rent of land in the Ukrainian capital.
"If you need any government decisions, but I know that it is exclusively the competence of the local authorities, we are ready to take them. Raise the rates and keep record of land plots, because some land users are hiding from the payment of the land tax, and it happens in the richest city in Ukraine," he said at a government meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that by the end of this year the city's budget deficit could reach UAH 1.7 billion. According to him, due to the fact that 50% of the paid tax on personal income is transferred to the state budget, the city annually loses up to UAH 9 billion.
