Ukraine, China to develop cooperation in coal gasification - Ukrainian Ambassador to China
Ukraine and China are planning to actively develop cooperation in the energy sector, in particular, the matter concerns Ukrainian coal gasification, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to China Oleh Demin has said.
"We're talking about coal gasification, serious cooperation, which our countries began last year to alleviate our energy situation, to maximally use our own energy opportunities for the development of the national economy," the diplomat said at a briefing in Xian (China), speaking about the issues that will be raised during the state visit of Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych to China.
"The idea is that on the basis of these agreements, [we will] implement projects to create coal-water fuel and the most important thing – launch coal gasification, using technologies that are already used successfully in China, to get gas from Ukrainian coal, which our chemical industry needs today," said the ambassador.
According to Demin, the issue also concerns the intention of the parties to deepen strategic partnership between the two countries, and approve a "realistic program" for the next few years in many areas.
"The program has been developed, agreed and, believe me, it will be very, very capacious," the official said.
