The observers of the European Parliament monitoring mission, former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox, say they don't mind extending their work in Ukraine.

"In principle we're ready, but it isn't us who have to decide," Cox told journalists in Vilnius on Thursday.

He said the European Parliament would decide whether to prolong the work of the observation mission.

The politician also said it was important to extend observation over the situation around ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko.

"Concerning Mrs. Tymoshenko, this is important for the European Union – to have an opportunity to monitor the conditions in which she is kept, in terms of human considerations," he said.

Cox, a former European Parliament president, and Kwasniewski, a former Polish president, were assigned to monitor the trials of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and started their mission on June 11, 2012. Their mandate was later extended.
