Former president of the European Parliament Pat Cox will visit Kyiv next week to assist in the reform of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian parliament chairman Volodymyr Groysman said.

"The first visit of Mr. Pat Cox will start next week. The visit comes as part of the implementation of the memorandum on the reform of the Ukrainian parliament, which we signed with the European Parliament," he said at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday.

Groysman also said that Ukrainian lawmakers will be given questionnaires in which they can put forward their proposals for the changes needed in the work of the Verkhovna Rada.

As reported, a memorandum of understanding between the Ukrainian and European parliaments was signed in early July. The document is aimed at facilitating the efficient work of the Verkhovna Rada.

Groysman previously announced that there will be a European Parliament mission would visit Ukraine in September to establish a roadmap for reforms related to institutional capability of the Ukrainian parliament.
