Cox-Kwasniewski mission ready to return to Ukraine, if necessary – EP decrees

The leadership of the European Parliament has passed a decision that the mission of former European Parliament President Pat Cox and former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski must be ready to return to Ukraine if need be.

The decision was taken in Brussels on Thursday during the Conference of Presidents, which is a leading body of the European Parliament.

As the EP told Interfax-Ukraine after the sitting, "the Cox-Kwasniewski mission should always be ready to go to Ukraine, if such a necessity occurs."

Besides, "President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz in December-January together with the Ukrainian leadership and opposition will assess whether there is any benefit from the mission."

As earlier reported, Schulz in Brussels said that he was going to ask the Conference of Presidents to prolong the work of the Cox-Kwasniewski mission to help start a dialogue between the authorities and opposition on easing tensions in Ukraine.
