Brokbusinessbank stable after getting aid from NBU and VETEK

2 min read

Brokbusinessbank (Kyiv) has declared the stabilization of the situation at the bank after it received financial aid from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and VETEK group of companies.

"Since early February Brokbusinessbank has undergone an information attack aimed at discrediting the financial institution. As a result, depositors, who succumbed to provocations, contacted the bank asking to break deposit contracts early. Therefore Brokbusinessbank experienced a short-term crisis of liquidity and was forced to introduce restrictions on cash withdrawals on cards to UAH 1,000 per day. Having received refinancing from the NBU and financial aid from VETEK, the bank has managed to fully stabilize the situation," reads a posting on the bank's Web site.

According to the report, currently Brokbusinessbank has a safety margin that allows it to fulfill all of its financial obligations.

"We forecast that the residual signs of excitement will subside completely this week," reads the statement.

According to the bank, its capital adequacy ratio currently stands at 47.66%, with the NBU standard figure being 10%.

As reported, over the last few days, disruptions in the bank's implementing of payments and servicing of cards, as well as low levels of liquidity have been observed.

On February 12, the NBU issued the first tranche of refinancing of UAH 1 billion to the bank, and declared it was ready to issue another UAH 1 billion.

On February 14, Brokbusinessbank announced its intention to resume the execution of all payments without delays from February 17.
