Ukraine demands to remove Russian, Belarusian wrestlers from Paris 2024 Olympics – NOC
President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine (NOC) Vadym Gutzeit, Acting Youth and Sports Minister of Ukraine Matviy Bidny, and President of the Ukrainian Wrestling Association Yuriy Kopytko demand the removal of Russian and Belarusian wrestlers from the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
"Among the Russian and Belarusian athletes who received Olympic licenses for the Paris 2024 Olympics, there are those who support the war in Ukraine," the NOC said in a statement.
In particular, it is about Vanessa Kaladzinskaya, Zaurbek Sidakov, Zaur Uguev, Milad Alirzaev, Sergey Semenov, Nadezhda Sokolova, Alina Kasabieva, Khanum Veliev, Natalia Malysheva, and Artur Naifonov, in respect of whom facts of violation of neutrality requirements were provided.
"The heads of Ukrainian sports institutions call on international partners to take measures to comply with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee on the neutral status of athletes from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus and not allow these persons to participate in international competitions," it said.
