Ukraine represented by 33 athletes at Winter Olympic Games 2018 in Pyeongchang

 The 2018 Winter Olympic Games are being opened in Korean Pyeongchang, at which Ukraine will be represented by 33 athletes.

Ukrainians will compete in nine out of 15 sports: in biathlon (11 sportsmen), figure skating (four sportsmen), luge (six sportsmen), freestyle (three sportsmen), cross-country skiing (four sportsmen), skiing (two sportsmen), snowboarding (one athlete), skeleton (one athlete) and cross-country skiing (one athlete).

Ukraine won seven medals at the six previous Olympiads: gold and bronze medals in Lillehammer in 1994, silver medal in Nagano in 1998, two bronze medals in Turin in 2006, gold and bronze medals in Sochi in 2014.

Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Ihor Zhdanov, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, said that winning one or two medals at the 2018 Winter Olympics would be a success for Ukraine.

During the Olympics, the official fan zone of the Winter Olympic Games 2018 will operate in the premises of the Kyiv Television Centre. It provides a lecture hall for deeper acquaintance with the history and rules of the competition, a playground in which children and adults can try themselves in curling, skiing and biathlon, an exhibition of sports equipment and information mounts with interesting information about the Olympic Games, as well as an area for press.

The 2018 Olympic Games will be held in Pyeongchang from February 9 until February 25.
