Sport Ministry to transform Avangard into modern sports complex with hotel, ice arena by 2023
Ukraine's Ministry of Youth and Sport has presented a strategic plan for the development of the Avangard sports complex located in Melnykova Street in Kyiv, providing for the construction of a multifunctional sports complex with a hotel and an ice arena.
According to the press service of the ministry, the project of reconstruction of the Avangard complex was presented by its authors, architects from Portalgroup LLC Andriy Sylenko and Denys Zemliakov, on September 21.
Minister of Youth and Sport Ihor Zhdanov noted during the presentation the project includes the arrangement of two arenas for hockey with an increased number of seats for fans, creation of modern conditions for the development and conduct of competitions in basketball, gymnastics, swimming, and other sports.
It is assumed that the construction of facilities will be carried out in three stages from 2018 to 2023. The issue of its financing should be resolved during the approval of the national budget.
The ministry has already allocated UAH 660,000 for pre-project work.
