FC Metalist-1925 not legal successor of FC bought by Kurchenko – co-founder

New football club FC Metalist-1925 founded by Avangard Kharkiv LLC is not a legal successor of FC Metalist belonged to businessman Serhiy Kurchenko since December 2012, the co-founder of the new FC Serhiy Storozhenko has said.

"We were founded in 2016. Our regulations are registered in 2016. The regulations say clearly that we are not responsible for anyone's liabilities, apart own from the moment of the registration of the regulations. There is no continuity under the law system. Under no circumstance will we answer for the actions of Mr. Kurchenko. Not today, tomorrow or in the future," Storozhenko said at a press conference on Thursday.

He said that FC Metalist-1925 does not use the training base of FC Metalist. The team is trained at the Start stadium of the Kharkiv Aviation Plant. The team is looking for a better training area.

"We cannot use the FC Metalist's base in Vysoky settlement. Mushrooms and dandelions are growing on the fields… We are looking for another training area," he said.

He denied famous Kharkiv businessman and President of DCH Group Oleksandr Yaroslavsky is involved with the team.

Storozhenko did not specify the minimum annual budget of the team, saying the club's founders had not given their consent to disclose the information.
