Ukrainian national football team qualifies for Euro 2024, defeating Iceland with 2:1 score

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the Ukrainian football team on its confident victory against the Iceland team with a score of 2:1 and access to the 2024 European Championship.

"Thank you, guys! Thank you, team! For the most important emotions for the whole country. For the extremely important victory and access to the Euro," Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram on Wednesday night.

He noted that with this victory, the Ukrainian team "proved once again: when it's hard for Ukrainians, but they don't give up and continue to fight, then Ukrainians will certainly win."

"At a time when they want to destroy us every day, we prove every day: Ukrainians exist and will exist! Ukraine exists and will exist! Thank you for the victory!" the president concluded.

The Ukraine-Iceland game took place in Wroclaw, Poland.

At the beginning of the game, Ukraine had the advantage in ball possession. The first half hour of the match ended with a goal from Iceland.

Ukraine restored parity in the 54th minute. Viktor Tsyhankov hit the bottom corner of the goal - 1:1. The second goal was scored by Mykhailo Mudryk.
