Canoeist Cheban bags new gold medal for Ukraine in Rio
Ukrainian canoeist Yuriy Cheban has won the second gold medal for Ukraine at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Cheban showed the best result in the canoeing final race at the distance of 200 m.
Thus, Cheban has become the two-time Olympic champion: he also won the gold medal at the Olympics 2012.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has congratulated the Ukrainian athlete on his victory.
"Victory! Yuriy Cheban brings one more gold for Ukraine! We are proud of our sportsman!" the president wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.
Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has also congratulated Cheban in his Twitter microblog.
