Ukraine's Bondarenko takes gold in high jump at world championships
Ukraine's Bohdan Bondarenko won the gold medal in the men's high jump at the world championships in Moscow on Thursday, having cleared 2.41 meters.
The athlete then tried to set a world record of 2.46 meters, but brought the bar down.
This is the second gold medal for Ukraine at this year's world championships. Earlier, Ukraine's Hanna Melnychenko won the women's heptathlon gold.
Also on Thursday, Olha Solodukha of Ukraine took bronze in the triple jump with a leap of 14.65.
