Ukrainian Premier League gets no proposals on idea of holding CIS football championship
The Ukrainian Premier League has not received any proposals inviting it to discuss the possibility of creating a football league of CIS countries.
"Nobody has addressed the Premier League on this matter, neither from Ukraine or neighboring countries and professional leagues. Of course, we're ready to discussion this issue with our colleagues if such a proposal is made. But this, first and foremost, requires understanding of whether there is a need for such a competition format," Acting Director General of the Ukrainian Premier League Petro Ivanov told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.
"This is not a new topic. It regularly appears in the media and is expressed by the leaders of different football clubs, but, in our opinion, although it's an interesting project, there are many organizational issues," he said.
