Netherlands plans to supply F-16s to Ukraine from autumn
The Netherlands plans to start sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine this fall, following Denmark. Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren has said this at a joint briefing with her Lithuanian counterpart in Vilnius, Delfi reported on Monday.
“We have everything planned according to the project, which consists in training Ukrainian pilots, training maintenance personnel and transferring real aircraft. According to the plan, we have a training center in Romania, where we also help to start training Ukrainians. They are currently being trained in Denmark, the USA and other countries. And if we manage to stay on this path, and everything will work for Ukraine, of course, in their own country, then the first aircraft will be delivered by Denmark this summer. And we hope to take part in deliveries from autumn with our F-16s,” said Ollongren.
Earlier, Minister Ollongren announced plans to transfer 24 multi-purpose F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
