Shmyhal on govt reform: We intend to reduce number of ministries by third
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said as part of government reform it is planned to reduce the number of ministries by a third.
"We are working to change the format of the government. In particular, reducing the number of ministries. We want to reduce the number of ministries by a third, reduce the number of civil servants," Shmyhal said at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.
The Prime Minister also said the authorities are working to create a strong Government centre, where auxiliary and administrative functions will be concentrated.
"Ministries should have a small number of very good specialists who will formulate public policy, and the Government centre will provide legal support in personnel, accounting and financial spheres, and the Government centre should quickly prepare documents for a particular ministry," he said.
As reported, Cabinet Minister Oleh Nemchinov allows the launch of the Government centre before 2025.
