Pensions for citizens from de-occupied territories to be calculated from contributions to Ukrainian pension system – Zholnovych

Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Oksana Zholnovych has said that pensions for citizens from de-occupied territories will be calculated from those contributions that were paid to the Ukrainian pension system.

"We are already thinking about this. We have a bill in the Verkhovna Rada that allows for proportional calculation of pensions. These people did not pay insurance contributions to the Ukrainian system, we cannot calculate them. But they have some documents showing that they worked. They will only need to show their work record book, any other documents confirming that they worked, and we will simply include the period of time in their work experience so that they have the opportunity to receive pension rights," Zholnovych said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering the question of what will happen after de-occupation with the insurance period and pensions of those people who work in the temporarily occupied territories.

At the same time, she said that the calculation of the pension itself will be made from those contributions that were paid to the Ukrainian pension system, because there is no reason to take into account contributions from the occupied territories.

"Perhaps an additional decision will be made, but for now we are moving in this vein. In the end, they will have the tools to pay extra. Perhaps there will be other decisions for certain categories. But we understand that this will all depend on the economy after the war," the minister concluded.
