Bakhmut remains the epicenter of enemy strikes, heavy fighting continues near Yahidne – AFU Eastern Group

In the past 24 hours, the Russian occupation forces shelled Bakhmut direction 300 times using various types of weapons, and 60 military clashes occurred there, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Serhiy Cherevaty has said.

"Bakhmut remains the epicenter of enemy strikes. It [the enemy] has been focusing on breaking through our defense, particularly near such settlements as Dubovo-Vasylivka, Yahidne, Bakhmut, Ivankivske, and Pivnichne. This section of the frontline was shelled 300 times from various types of cannon artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. Sixty military clashes occurred, during which the enemy lost 63 KIA and 141 WIA," he said on the air of the national telethon on Monday.

Heavy fighting continues near Yahidne, Cherevaty said, adding that the Ukrainian command takes measures to prevent enemy advance in this direction.

He emphasized that the situation near Bakhmut is difficult, but controlled. Speaking about the situation with the Russian forces' offensive, the spokesman said that the dynamics of the hostilities did not change significantly, and the section of the frontline has been heavily shelled for seven months already.
