Zaporizhstal, Zaporizhkoks of Metinvest temporarily mothball production
In connection with the growing military aggression of Russia in Zaporizhia region, the Metinvest Mining and Metallurgical Group is transferring part of the equipment of Zaporizhia metallurgical plant Zaporizhstal and Zaporizhkoks plant to hot conservation mode.
According to the company's press release on Wednesday, the decision was made by Metinvest's Humanitarian Mission Coordination Center in Zaporizhia.
At the same time, on the basis of the Zaporizhstal plant, the Center for the Coordination of the Humanitarian Mission of Zaporizhia enterprises of Metinvest was created under the leadership of the CEO of the metal plant Oleksandr Myronenko. The Center undertakes to make operational decisions regarding the support of labor collectives, the further life of enterprises and the provision of humanitarian assistance to Zaporizhia region.
Zaporizhkoks also carries out works on hot conservation of coke oven batteries and suspends its work. Energy and chemical workshops will be partially stopped, and auxiliary units will be completely stopped.
Hot conservation involves the suspension and transfer of industrial units to a quiet operation, with the possibility of a quick start-up of equipment and the restoration of previous production volumes in the future.
"The decision to resume a full-fledged production process will be made promptly based on the situation. Now the key goal is to save the life and health of each employee, as soon as possible to return to normal life and peaceful work," the group said.
