Polish football players decide not to play Russia in World Cup qualifier
Poland has announced refusal to participate in the World Cup qualifying playoff match against Russia, the head of Polish Football Union (PFU), Cezary Kulesza, said.
"No more words, time to act! Due to the escalation of the aggression of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine the Polish national team does not intend to play the play-off match against Russia," Kulesza wrote on Twitter on Saturday, adding that this was the only right decision.
He also said that the PFU was now in talks with the Swedish and Czech federations on the subject of submitting a joint statement to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
