Situation in Sumy region difficult, battles ongoing in Akhtyrka, Russian troops control M02 highway - regional authorities

Russian troops have taken control of a section of the M02 Kyiv-Moscow highway within Sumy region, fighting is underway in Akhtyrka, head of the Sumy Regional State Administration Dmytro Zhyvytsky said.

"The situation today in Sumy region is complicated. Now there are battles in the town of Akhtyrka, there was a battle in Konotop, near Sumy. They passed the town of Glukhiv through 'transit' ... Russian troops control the highway from the border with the Russian Federation - the Kyiv-Moscow highway - to Chernihiv region, to Baturin for sure," said head of the regional administration Zhyvytsky in a video message posted on the regional administration's Facebook page.
