Maidan is cure against dictatorship - Tymoshenko

Ukraine during 10 years has twice been inoculated from the dictatorship, lawlessness and irresponsibility of politicians, All-Ukrainian Batkivschyna Union leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said.

"Maidan is not just a place, it is a spiritual center. It is a place where justice and truth is concentrated. In monarchies the oath to autocrats is taken on the square, where in Ukraine people beheaded failing hetmen. Sometimes it was done literally, sometimes by political means. A new Ukrainian nation was born on Maidan," Tymoshenko wrote, congratulating compatriots on the Day of Dignity and Freedom on her Facebook page on Wednesday.

Maidan has shown that ordinary citizens can be above the "so-called elite," she said.

"The revolution of dignity is forever inscribed in the country's chronicle. Eternal glory to all who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine, for the right of the nation to be free, proud, and independent," Tymoshenko said.
