Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova has sent a letter to Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova with initiatives to free Ukrainian political prisoners with the simultaneous release of 36 Russian citizens held in Ukraine.
"Following the discussion at a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group that was held in Minsk on July 25, the Russian side proposed outlining the essence of the Ukrainian initiative in a letter to the Russian human rights commissioner," Denisova wrote on her Facebook page on Friday.
According to her, the letter also mentions the possibility of holding the next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group with the participation of the Ukrainian and Russian ombudsmen "to discuss the organization of humanitarian visits to check the conditions of detention of prisoners, as well as the movement of prisoners from prisons in temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions."
