Ukraine returns to state property 98,000 hectares of land seized at different times – Lutsenko
During 2017, 98,000 hectares of plundered land, mostly military or recreational, have been returned to the state, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has said.
"For two years in a row, we have been returning UAH 10 billion [per year] to the budget from cases on protecting the interests of the state in the courts. For two years, we have been returning no less than 80,000 hectares of plundered land. In 2017, there is already a figure of 98,000 hectares," Lutsenko said in an interview with the Segodnia (Today) newspaper, published on Thursday.
"In general, these are military lands - simply stolen landfills, as well as resort areas of the coastal zone in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, forest lands," the prosecutor general said.
At the same time, Lutsenko noted that lands that are being returned "were seized both by the 'old' and, alas, 'new' groups of dishonest businessmen."
