Nigerian pirates release ship Demeter's crew with one Ukrainian onboard
Nigerian pirates have released the earlier kidnapped six crew members of the German ship Demeter, among whom was one Ukrainian, the Department of Consular Service of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has reported.
"A Ukrainian and five other crew members of the Demeter ship, abducted by pirates, have been released," it said on Twitter on Monday.
The consular service also said that the release was possible due to the coordinated actions of the shipping company, security services and diplomats.
As reported, on October 25, 2017, pirates kidnapped six crew members of the German ship Demeter in the territorial waters of Nigeria. According to the media, four citizens of the Philippines, as well as citizens of Ukraine and Hungary were among the abducted persons.
