Poroshenko invites Georgian gov't delegation to visit Ukraine

A Georgian government delegation will visit Ukraine in November, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told reporters after a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili on Tuesday.

"We are expecting a Georgian government delegation led by the prime minister in autumn," Poroshenko said.

According to the Georgian prime minister's press service, during their meeting the parties discussed ways to further promote strategic relations between Georgia and Ukraine, their common interests and the common challenges facing the two countries.

"The sides discussed the importance of strategic cooperation, which means close political and economic relations between the two countries and also steps to even further strengthen the existing partnership in bilateral and multilateral formats," the press service said.

Special attention was given to close cooperation within international and regional organizations, the process of integration with Europe, the countries' Euro-Atlantic aspirations, the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit and also ways to further develop bilateral trade and economic relations and make the most of their potential.

In particular, Kvirikashvili and Poroshenko discussed large-scale international transport and energy projects and also cooperation as part of the new Silk Road initiative.

"During the meeting, the sides once again reaffirmed their strong support of the two countries' territorial integrity and sovereignty within internationally recognized borders," the press service said.
