Fire area in Chornobyl zone reduced to eight hectares, radiation background is normal

The area of the fire in the Lubianka forestry in the exclusion zone and unconditional (compulsory) resettlement has been reduced to eight hectares, the official website of the State Emergency Service reported on Friday.

"As of 11:00 of June 30, the fire was extinguished and the area of the fire has been reduced from 25 to eigh hectares during the night. The fire is localized in 337 forest zone, separate hot spots are observed in 336 zone ... There is no threat of spreading fire to other forest areas," a report says.

As reported, on June 29 at 12:35 there was a fire of forest residues and wood litter in the exclusion zone during the pre-processing of forest felling for construction of the railway. The area of the fire reached 25 hectares on Thursday. On Friday morning it was reported that overnight the area of the fire was reduced to 12 hectares.
