Poroshenko asks Merkel about treatment of Crimean Tatars Mejlis member Umerov in Germany
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel has asked for the possibility of treating Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov in Germany.
"Poroshenko addressed to Angela Merkel asking to provide Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Ilmi Umerov with the possibility of treatment in one of the medical institutions in Germany," the presidential press service said.
As reported, in May investigators from the Crimean department of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) opened a criminal case against Umerov on suspicion of incitement to violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.
