Parliament calls on Ecumenical Patriarch to recognize Ukrainian Orthodox Church
A letter from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a call on the Ecumenical Patriarch to declare autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been delivered to Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy said.
"Patriarch Bartholomew has received a letter from the Verkhovna Rada with a call to declare autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. I hope for a favorable decision," he wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
The Verkhovna Rada approved a relevant address to Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on June 16.
